In the tradition of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Reading Rainbow, Quiet Time Tales is wholesome, educational children's programming. Each of the DVDs in the collection contain five complete stories read aloud by the gentle character of Grandpa Read, played by Gary Sturm a grandfather of four, veteran actor and retired schoolteacher. Dozens of illustrations commissioned specifically for the collection accompany the stories. At the end of each DVD, Grandpa Read sings a new original song.
